Being approved for NASpI (Italy’s Unemployment Benefit Scheme) does not simply mean receiving financial support. It also requires fulfilling a series of duties that are essential to maintaining the right to the allowance. Below is an updated and comprehensive guide to everything you must do.
1. Access the SIILS portal (formerly MyANPAL) after NASpI begins. Since 2024, many services for unemployed individuals have been integrated into the new SIILS portal, which has become an essential tool for NASpI recipients.
Once your unemployment status starts, you must:
a. Verify your DID (Declaration of Immediate Availability for Work). This declaration is usually submitted automatically when you apply for NASpI, but it is recommended to log into SIILS and confirm that it is active.
b. Complete or update the PAD (Digital Activation Agreement). The PAD includes personal information, work experience, availability, and professional preferences. It allows the Employment Center (CPI) to design a personalized path for your job search.
c. Check SIILS communications regularly. The portal sends notifications regarding:
employment center appointments,
training courses,
job offers,
updates on the DID and active measures.
Logging in regularly is essential to avoid missing important messages.
2. Obligations toward the Employment Center (CPI). Once you are unemployed and receiving NASpI, the Employment Center becomes your main point of reference. You must:
a. Attend all appointments. The CPI may schedule:
profiling interviews,
signing of the Personalized Service Agreement (PSP),
orientation meetings,
training courses.
Missing an appointment without a valid reason leads to sanctions, up to the loss of the allowance.
b. Sign the Personalized Service Agreement (PSP). This document defines your obligations and the activities required to support your job search.
c. Participate in the activities assigned. These may include funded training courses, workshops, periodic interviews, and documented job search activities.
Main reasons you may lose NASpI
NASpI can be suspended, reduced, or revoked entirely. You may lose the allowance if:
You miss a CPI appointment without justification (even once).
You fail to attend mandatory courses, interviews, or PSP activities.
You refuse a suitable job offer, which results in immediate revocation.
You fail to report new work activities (employee, freelance, or occasional work).
You start self-employment without reporting your expected income within 30 days.
What to do if you find a job while receiving NASpI
You can work and, in certain cases, continue receiving part of the benefit. Here’s what to do:
1. If you find a job as an employee (Fixed-term or Permanent) You must notify INPS of:
the start date of the contract,
your expected annual income.
Main rules:
If the contract lasts up to 6 months, NASpI is suspended.
If it lasts longer than 6 months or is permanent, NASpI ends.
If your income is below €8,000, you may receive a reduced NASpI (80%).
2. If you start self-employment or freelance work
You must inform INPS within 30 days, indicating your expected income.
Income ≤ €4,800/year → NASpI continues in reduced form.
Income > €4,800/year → NASpI is revoked.
3. If you perform occasional work ( occasional Services)
You must still notify INPS. If your total annual compensation does not exceed €5,000, NASpI continues in reduced form.
In conclusion receiving NASpI is not just about financial support: it involves obligations, participation, and ongoing communication. By following all procedures required by SIILS, the Employment Center, and INPS, you can keep your benefit and increase your chances of returning to the job market.
