It's time to highlight some crucial dates for foreign workers looking to enter Italy in 2023.
The eagerly awaited Decree of the President of the Council of Ministers, outlining the "Planning of legal entry flows into Italy for foreign workers for the three-year period 2023-2025," has been officially published in the Gazette on October 4th, 2023.
Here's the breakdown of the entry quotas:
a) 136,000 foreign citizens for the year 2023;
b) 151,000 foreign citizens for the year 2024;
c) 165,000 foreign citizens for the year 2025.
These numbers are further divided by sectors, types of work, and workers. The Decree also specifies the application timelines for employers.
For 2023, the click days (important dates for applications) are as follows:
- December 2nd: Open for non-seasonal employed workers who are citizens of countries with cooperation agreements with Italy.
- December 4th: Available for other non-seasonal subordinate workers (badante etc.).
- December 12th: Accessible for seasonal workers.
Keep in mind that additional guidelines and provisions will soon be issued through a joint circular from various ministries after consulting with the Ministry of Business, foreign affairs, and international cooperation.
Here's a small but important recommendation: On the designated click day, employers must access the portal with their SPID to submit an application for employing a foreigner. If you don't have SPID yet, make sure to activate it promptly.
Furthermore, if you plan to apply on behalf of a relative, friend, or acquaintance, ensure they prepare all the necessary travel documents for a smooth journey to Italy.
