The Disability Card, also known as the European Disability Card, is a card that aims to simplify access to services and facilities for individuals with disabilities, not only in Italy but across all European Union countries. Here are the key details:

- The Disability Card serves as a replacement for various paper certificates that were previously required to obtain discounts, free access, or personalized admission to specific establishments.

- Individuals eligible to apply for the Disability Card include:

- Those with a severe disability recognized under Law 104, article 3, c, 3.

- Individuals with self-certification of civil invalidity recognized before 2010.

- Individuals with self-certification of disability recognized in the regions of Valle d'Aosta, Trento, or Bolzano.

- Those with a civil disability level higher than 67%.

- Individuals with hearing or vision impairments.

- Individuals receiving a carer's allowance.

Applying for the Disability Card is a straightforward process. The card can be requested through the INPS portal by the individual themselves or through trade associations such as ANMIC, UICI, ENS, ANFFAS.

Once obtained, the Disability Card remains valid for 10 years and can only be used by the registered cardholder.
