€1,000 Newborn Bonus 2026 in Italy: Who Qualifies and How to Apply

The INPS has opened applications for the Newborn Bonus 2026, a one-time payment of €1,000 for each child born, adopted, or placed in pre-adoptive foster care between 1 January and 31 December 2026.
Who can apply
The bonus is available to:
Italian citizens
Foreign citizens living in Italy
Non-EU citizens can also apply if they have one of the following residence permits:
a work permit valid for more than 6 months
a research permit valid for more than 6 months
a residence permit valid for at least 1 year
The bonus is also available to:
stateless persons
people with international protection status
Financial requirement (ISEE)
To receive the bonus, you must have an ISEE:
not higher than €40,000
calculated for the child for whom the bonus is requested
excluding amounts received from the “Assegno Unico” (child allowance)
Deadlines
You must apply within 120 days from the child’s birth, adoption, or foster placement
If you miss this deadline, you lose the right to the bonus
Special case: if the child was born or adopted before the service opened, you must apply by 12 August 2026

One of the parents
If the parents do not live together, the parent living with the child must apply
